Litphone projector – Real ProjectorPhone @ Hong Kong Electrics Fair

While appearing fairly nondescript amongst many mobile phone models, the LitPhone (mobile phone projector) managed to stand out at the Hong Kong Electrics fair as innovative. It boasts two features, one – Micro projector – which is becoming the new fad amongst mobile phones, but its ace in the hole is its secondary major feature – the Lit phone mobile phone projector combines the inbuilt pico projector with a television tuner! This means that wherever the gadget user is he/she can watch tv using the phones in built tv tuner/projector on the nearest wall or surface.

This added spin of the tv tuner is a great addition, micro projectors have had media slots for things like SD cards and vga inputs etc since they have been around, but to cram all the functionality of a tv set into the palm of your hand, as WELL as the normal mobile phone functionality is a step forward. Manufactured by SCT Optronics this new model mobilephone/tv projector appeared to have risen from an unheard of generic company, often feature packed gadgets do this but don’t live up to the expansion they may recieve from being innovators.

Currently only aimed at the asian mobile market its unlikely we will see the SCT LitPhone on uk shores anytime soon, but it gives a great glimpse into what the bigger named electronics companies might bring to the uk over the next few years. Ultimately though we see the introduction of tv tuner’s (Digital) into the micro projector, seperate to the mobile phone as the way things will go, its all very well and good trying to cram said features into a useable phone, but in reality its likely that the output resolution, brightness and colour range wouldn’t be amazing.

The Litphone then, a fine example of the east striving for better electronics through clever use of micro projection lenses, Ultrabright LED’s, lithium batteries and now small tv tuner chipsets. No doubt an interesting insight, but quite unlikely to directly see uk launch.
