Micro Projector Cables

Something we often forget when we go for new gadgets like the micro-projector is accessories and essential peripherals that help us to get the most out of our new favourite toy. When it comes to micro-projectors there really is only a few different things other than cables that you need. A gorillapod (gorillapod + microprojector combo)  is a great start to keep your pico projecting strait, cases are now coming out to protect your mini projectors, batteries come in a fairly big range – depending on your model you might want to look at rechargeable batteries. Lastly you come to the data centric essential additional buy, the cables. Some micro projector’s do come with a huge host of cables ready to plug themselves into your pc, laptop etc but the majority don’t come with a lot more than a standard vga of quite a short length.

You could be trying to connect your microprojector to a laptop, pc, dvd player, tv recorder, trying to get your ipod to micro projector to work, connecting your microprojector to your archaos or simply running a usb harddrive to it (not strictly possible yet!) – there are a lot of things you can connect a picoprojector too, and as a result there are a lot of different cables. HDMI might be overkill at this point as microprojector resolutions are far from full hd so far, manufacturers seem to be sticking to VGA inputs which do work but can be fat if your running a lot of cable (10m ones for example) – however if you want to connect your ipod to a handheld micro projector you will need a completely different cable again – it might be worth buying though as any new micro-projector is likely to come with a vga (although it might be a tiny 0.5m one!) and to play video strait from your ipod is great – similar resolutions and easy control.

When they get the resolutions up then we will be looking at fancier cables, for now all your old av scart to svideo etc will probably work too!
