Is this a micro projector? BenQ mini LED Projector
Here at micro projector 5.co.uk we are always asking the question – is this micro projector micro enough? is it classed as a micro or pico projector and usually the question comes to a comparison against other micro projectors in size and the infamous “will it fit in my hand” test to see if the projector is handheld (we agreed that at the moment all handheld projectors are micro projectors.)

With lots of moves to minifying and improving the current generation of handheld microprojector’s its clean to see they are likely to get a lot smaller and a lot more potent (Higher res/contrasts) in the coming months/years. Benq has just revealed its new mini LED Projector so here is the question again – is this small projector a micro projector?
Yes the photograph of this new gadget does clearly show it being held up by someones hand, but is that realistically sustainable, it doesnt look like it would fit snuggly into the hand like a 3m micro or an optima pico projector. We arent ready to do a full review on the BenQ GP1 yet but it is hyped to be a good solution. Lampless (it uses LED’s rather than a lamp) has all the usual features but weighs double what some micro’s weigh (640g) – potentially meaning it has better grunt but is a little larger.

So what do you think – is the new Benq a micro projector or just a mini projector? Watch this space for a full review of this benq projector in the not to distant future.
