Cheapest Pico Projector from Ray Display? £150 Micro Projector?

Cheap isn’t always a good thing in our book, but if you can get a pico projector that ticks all the same boxes for £50 + less than the rest its probably worth thinking about. A new startup company called Ray Display claim they are about to launch a pico projector that will come in at $249 USD (this could be as cheap as £150 in the UK!) but whether or not it will live up to the current long established manufacturers projectors like 3M and Samsungs offerings is yet to be seen, being a startup pico manufacturer it could go either way (the very fact startups are popping up in this market is a good sign for the microprojector!)

Anyway the Ray Pico Projector (no name as of yet) is apparently sporting some pretty average numbers – a VGA resolution of 640 x 480 and an average brightness. It does claim its light is powered by a “Super Efficient LED Light bulb” but whether or not this would not be available to all manufacturers throws up questions. Either way its said to be good for 20,000 hours of continual use and produce a slightly larger than the average 50inch, 70inch throw.

Mid September the Ray micro projector is set for launch and we look to see what the price and spec’s actually come out as – whether or not it will live up to its big throw, cheap price is to be seen, especially as christmas is coming and all the producers seem to be lowering their prices (and are no doubt working on improved spec pico’s!)
