Micro Projector Comparison Chart Sep 2009

Micro Projector’s are slowly getting adopted more and more, so with new pico projector’s out each month its easy to loose track of which pocket projectors are best value for money or the best resolutions of the moment. Unfortunately with SO many fledgling (and global) companies joining the market its impossible to get every available pico projector world wide at any moment into a grid like this. Rather than try and get every little company pico projector out there on here we have selected the 5 most easily available in the uk, there are some with higher resolution, cheaper import unbranded ones and even some unheard of new company offerings – but these are the micro projector’s your likely to see in uk shops (if at all) or online at uk electronics retailers – so heres how these micro projectors compare.

If your a uk buyer we are still recommending the Optoma, because of its ipod connectivity, price and support online – no doubt within 3 months this would have changed so remember to pop back here anytime before you are going to buy a pico projector – as we will provide updated micro projector comparison chart’s every month or so, as well as a “micro projector of the moment” guide’s on which is the best place to spend your micro projector money.

8 Comments on Micro Projector Comparison Chart Sep 2009:

  1. While this list has some nice models, it’s rather incomplete. It doesn’t list the Aaxatech P1 which comes in at 12 lumens/640×480

    http://www.aaxatech.com/products/kp190_p1_pico_projector.htm

And the newly released P2 which is 33 lumens/800×600

    http://www.aaxatech.com/products/p2_pico_projector.htm

Also, the Mpro120 is listed as a 110 above, may want to correct that to reduce the confusion, cheers!

  2. Cheers for that Charles – I have changed the typo to read Mpro120 – the AaxaTech P2 will get added to the next summary within a few weeks, it does indeed look nice! All of these pico projector’s will also go onto our Wiki (http://wiki.microprojector5.co.uk) which will help identifying them in future!

  3. PFFFFTT…THESE ALL FAIL COMPARED TO THE MICROVISION SHOWWX.

When that sucker comes out these will just be garbage and wastes of money as they INVENTED the hardware that all these are using.

They use Auto-Focusing which THEY OWN and no other company can replicate. Sure, they sold the Projecting Technology to fund it, but the Multi-Layering Auto-Focusing WHICH ONLY THEY OWN is amazing compared to this scrap list.

    Go here and drool http://www.microvision.com/showwx/specs.html

  4. To be fair bob you have a bit of a point, the Microvision ShowWx
(http://wiki.microprojector5.co.uk/wiki/Showwx) is a very good pico projector – the fact it is the first laser based pico does mean it can auto focus – that is correct.

But they do not own “Auto focus” and the show wx (now being rebranded by uniden – http://www.microprojector5.co.uk/2009/11/uniden-pico-projector-microvision-showwx-rebranded/ ) will be good potentially only until the next big thing comes along. This however was a comparison in September so look out for the new one which will feature all available pico’s up to date!

  5. Bob, auto focus is an innate property of the laser technology. As you probably know by now, the microvision showwx was launched after the aaxatech.com’s L1 projector. L1 seems to spec out better, has more features as well…im going to wait till these projectors mature a little more before handing over hundreds of dollars…but they do look promising.

We cant wait cebeastt ;) lets hope its soon!

  7. Hey guys, it’s nice to see a site like this. I looked over your wiki page really quick and couldn’t help but notice that the AAXA M2 isn’t listed on it. According to them, it’s the first 1024×768 resolution projector with 110lumens. It’s pretty amazing how quick they produced that considering when the models listed here was produced, I’m pretty sure in a short time we’ll see 200..300…500 lumen pico/micro projectors! Here’s the link for the AAXA M2, http://www.aaxatech.com/products/m2_micro_projector.htm
