Pico home cinema projector

With home cinema’s getting more common by the year its far more likely in 2009 that when you go round peoples houses you wil walk into what you thought was a living room and it will turn out to be a home cinema, blackout blinds, black material on the walls, soundproofing and white pulldown or automatic projector screens are all common paraphenalia you are likely to encounter. But will the pico projector replace the home cinema projector as we know it? will they in time replace our flat screen tv’s and our multimedia projectors too?

If the big technology companies like 3M, Samsung and Syndiant keep developing pico projector’s like they are it is all possible. If you can get a home cinema projector into a matchbox sized case that does nearly the same resolution but using batteries why would you opt for a huge lump which requires a big mount to get it on the ceiling/ wall? Of course its always going to be cheaper to produce things like better lumenance and higher resolution in a bigger box, but in time will projector’s minaturising take over like phone’s? will the home cinema projector alot of us own today be considered a huge waste of space?

Theres a load of hurdles before we all replace resource intensive, expensive, heavy big lcd and plasma tv’s and screens with pico projectors, but the first pico projector home cinema kit is not that far away in progression. The pico projector may even replace the television – all it needs is for some bright spark to work out a new way of using super bright light with low temperatures even in a super confined handheld case – look out for the Pico home cinema projector – my guess it will be one of the big companies that launch’s it first – LG or samsung perhaps?
