Why NetBooks Should have embedded pico projectors

…Surely its obvious? I can’t believe that Asus or Samsung or another manufacturer hasnt picked up the baton yet – netbooks have been a huge hit – bringing to life the hacker 1990’s film ideal of being able to have something the size of your average reading book that has the capacity of a fullsize pc from a year or so ago. Few things could be added to a netbook to make them more awesome. Dell have been jumping into the market with a touchscreen one which seems pretty pointless, ASUS are also doing this – It just seems such common sense to try embedding a small projector within the epc/netbook. With the power available already via a nice lithium ion battery and the need for bigger output it would make so much sense to embed one within a netbook.

Perhaps in next years netbook’s we will see a micro projector embedded and then the kids will really have something to do – we have seen pirate projections where people use cars/vans to driveby project onto towerblocks, subways and other buildings but couple a netbook with a laser projector and you could be watching hd movies on the bus seat in front of you on the way home, dj at a party from a pc thatll fit within your hand and even bring your own visuals!! – Current pico projector’s would indeed not offer a great focal length and brightness for this situation but by the time these netbook manufacturers work out how best to integrate they are going to be a lot better!

Anyone think of a better coupling than this?

  1. That’d be sweet if they stuck one on the back of the case, but I don’t know if everyone would want one on the back? I would love if my eeepc had a projector built in :(
