Since we featured the novel Fujitsu F04B last week we have been thinking more and more about the technology of segmented modular gadgetry, but we never expected to hear of a similar gadget so quickly. Enter the LG eXpo mobile phone with detatchable pico projector. Powered by the Texas Instruments embedded pico projector technology the LG eXpo has not strictly been released yet but rumours are circulating and its said next monday its likely to be properly announced.

It has been said the LG-expo will be running windows mobile 6.5 (hmm) and feature a nice meaty 5 mega-pixel camera, micro sd card slot and a biometric fingerprint scanner. Now as the eXpo has not yet been released its impossible to confirm any of these features, but from the released images you can see they could all feature, perhaps even there will be a few different technology equiped levels of the LG expo (as the pico projector is detatchable perhaps its an extra?)

Another thing the keen of you may have spotted is the branding on the phone showing the American carrier AT&T – yes this does hint of its first seller, but we are hopeful that the eXpo will make it to uk shops soon too, this LG pico phone is much more likely to be sold in the uk than the Fujitsu one, with models similarly designed already being available and with a very large established LG phone owner base.

Its not been anounced how the pico and phone communicate data but we would hazard a guess that the pico projector is bluetooth enabled – which makes you think – why aren’t all pico projector’s bluetooth enabled? – this would be a great development, lets hope LG pioneers the way. This is the first we have seen of the real mainstream phone manufacturers that sell to the uk embedding pico-projectors in their gadgets – lets hope they keep it up

As we recieve official news on the LG eXpo or get our hands on one we will keep you informed, it looks like a nice option for those of you that don’t want a seperate micro projector to couple with your phone, the second of the “mobile phone and pico projector” combo products within a month – could this be a sign of things to come? Will we see the pico iPhone we all want to see in 2010? We can only wait and see.
